Additional Safety SkillsBoard & Rider Rescue
Being able to help another kiter is useful, but only if you can do it while maintaining control of your own equipment and without creating a second emergency.
If a rider is already body dragging upwind toward their board, trying to recover it may only get in the way. However, if the rider is far downwind or nowhere to be seen, knowing how to recover a board can be helpful.
If a rider is in the water without their gear, being able to body drag with your board while they hold onto your harness can also help.
If the situation is beyond your ability or conditions are unsafe, the best way to help may be to signal local rescue or get an instructor or more experienced rider.
